A ‘belief’ is something a person thinks to be the case without there being empirical evidence to prove that something is the case with factual certainty. Summing it up means you can literally believe whatever you want to… because it’s YOUR belief…
Something that has been bouncing around in my head is the question, “What are my beliefs… and are they useful?” Secondly, are my beliefs the “truth” and does that matter? Answering the latter part, No, whether my beliefs are true, false or whatever they might be. At the end of the day, what matters most is whether they bring me closer in becoming the man I want to be.
My beliefs may work for myself and not work for you and vice versa. If they both give us a sense of a call to action and SERVE us by bringing us closer to our goals. WHO CARES IF THEY ARE REAL OR NOT.
I might believe that going to the gym and eating a certain way will cause me to lose weight and gain muscle. Does that mean what I am doing is the truth? No! Instead, this “belief” is bringing me closer and aligning with the goals I have set regarding those areas. Yea, it may not be the best or the “true” route, but my belief in them is bringing me to action.
